Day Wise Tour Plan
On arrival at Paro international airport by Durk /Tashi Airlines, after visa formalities and immigration you will be received by Bhutan Travel Tag representative and proceed toward your hotel in Paro. After refreshment you can explore Paro valley to understand Bhutanese culture & Tradition. You may also visit to Paro Dzong, one of Bhutan’s most impressive and well-known dzong, and the finest example of Bhutanese architecture.
This morning we will drive to Drukgyal Dzong (a oldest Dzong – 16 kms away from Paro town).This dzong was built in 1649 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in a location chosen for its control of the route to Tibet. The dzong was named ‘Druk’ (Bhutan) ‘gyel’ (victory) to commemorate the victory of Bhutan over Tibetan invaders in 1644. The dzong, although in ruins, holds great historical significance. Drukgyal Dzhong offers a spectacular view of Mt. Jomolhari and its surrounding peaks.
Drive back to hotel in Paro
Today we will drive along the winding road alongside the Paro Chu (river) to the confluence with the Wang Chu, and then follow the Wang Chu to Thimphu, the Capital town. Lunch will be served at the hotel/ or can be in Individual restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the Memorial Chorten, dedicated to the Late Third King. Overnight in hotel in Thimphu.
Today we will do sightseeing I Thimphu like Tashichho Dzong, the seat of the Royal Government, and the summer residence of the Head Abbot and the monk body. Wander through the town, visit shops and the Handicrafts Emporium, where Bhutanese textiles and other handicrafts are available. Visit the workshop where the handicrafts are made.
After that we will visit the painting and woodcrafts school where traditional painting and other arts are kept alive and then the National Library and see the ancient manuscripts preserved there. After that we will visit Simtokha Dzong (6 kms from Thimphu ), the oldest fortress built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1629 A.D. The Simtokha Dzong also houses the largest monastic school in the country. Drive back and overnight in hotel in Thimphu.
The journey to Central Bhutan begins today. The drive to Trongsa is very scenic and takes about 8-9 hours from Thimphu. We can take pack lunch at Chendebji Chorten. Overnight at Hotel in Trongsa.
Today we will drive for almost 2 hour to Jakar (Bumthang). (The “Plain of Ghosts”) is a land of myth and mystery and tales of the great Guru Padmasambhava who performed formidable feats and miracles here. A beautiful view of Jakar Dzong (“Castle of the White Bird”) can be seen from view Point. Lunch will be served in hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at hotel in Bumthang.
Today we will explore the Dairy Farm, the Swiss Cheese Factory and apple Juice factory. Walk around Bumthang valley in preparation for the excursion to Nganglakhang. Overnight at hotel In Bumthang.
The route follows the Chamkharchu, a river rich in trout. Stop for lunch at Thangbi Lhakhang. From here the trek enters the Ngang Yul (Land of the Swan) at the center of which lies the Nganglhakhang (Swan Temple). This place was filled with swans in ancient times, hence the name. Overnight halt at camp.
The trek starts with a gradual climb to Phepela Pass at an altitude of 3353 mtrs, the highest point of the trek route. The trail passes through beautiful forested areas where many stops can be made to enjoy the natural beauty of the place. Along the way, the Ugyenchholing Palace can be seen. Overnight halt in Camp.
The trail follows the Tang Chu, another trout-filled river. On the bank of the river is the Tang Rimpoche Lhakhang. The trek will pass the Membar Tsho (Flaming lake). From Panshing, the group will be picked-up by transport and driven to Jakar. Overnight halt in hotel.
Today we will drive to Wangdi along the East – west Highway. Stops can be made along the way to enjoy the scenery. Overnight in hotel in wangdue.
Today we will drive Paro via Thimphu and witness local market in evening, and then overnight hotel in Paro.
This morning we’ll have time for one last walk through town before saying our goodbyes and heading to the airport for the Druk/ Tashi Air flight out of Bhutan.
